Three out-of-contract attackers Manchester United could sign this summer

Sports Mole picks out three out-of-contract attackers who Manchester United could potentially sign this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Atalanta BC over a deal for Rasmus Hojlund, with the Denmark international thought to be pushing for a move to Old Trafford.

Even if Hojlund arrives, though, the Red Devils would still be short in the final third of the field, with Anthony Martial potentially departing on a permanent basis, and the likes of Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri being continually linked with loan exits.

Anthony Elanga is also set to leave, meaning that there will be space in the squad for Man United to add another wide player, but it will more than likely have to be a low-cost option, as their budget is already stretched, with a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana set to be completed.

With that in mind, Sports Mole picks out three wildcard options for the 20-time English champions, with the trio all available on free transfers at this moment in time.

Daichi Kamada

Kamada's future remains the subject of much speculation, with the 26-year-old available on a free transfer this summer following his departure from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Atletico Madrid are currently being heavily linked with the Japan international, while Roma are also believed to be firmly in the race for his signature ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Man United were linked with Kamada in January, though, and it is believed that they made an attempt to sign him when Christian Eriksen was diagnosed with a long-term ankle issue.

The attacker was in strong form for Frankfurt last season, scoring 16 goals and registering seven assists in 47 appearances, including three goals in eight Champions League matches.

Players of Kamada's calibre do not often become available on free transfers, and he could prove to be a very smart addition for the Red Devils if they decide to make a move.

Wilfried Zaha

Zaha is one of the most high-profile players currently available for free, with the attacker deciding against signing a new contract at Crystal Palace.

At this moment in time, the strongest interest is said to be arriving from Saudi Arabia, where the 30-year-old would be able to earn extortionate wages.

However, a return to Man United, where he might feel he has unfinished business, would certainly be a big story.

Zaha previously represented the Red Devils between 2013 and 2015, but he only featured on four occasions for the club, eventually returning to Palace on a permanent basis following a loan spell.

The forward has never played European football, but he has contributed 68 goals and 43 assists in 305 appearances in the Premier League, and while he would not be a starter at Man United, the Ivory Coast international would be a brilliant option to bring off the bench for head coach Erik ten Hag.

Adama Traore

The true wildcard option in the list, Traore is also available for nothing this summer following his release from Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last month.

The 27-year-old is now searching for his next club, and AC Milan had been linked with him earlier this week, only to allegedly drop their interest after discussions.

Traore managed 14 goals and 20 assists in 194 appearances during his time at Wolves, while his Premier League record is 10 goals and 18 assists in 194 outings, also including spells at Middlesbrough and Aston Villa.

The Spain international might not be a particularly exciting signing for Man United, but there are few players in world football like him, especially off the bench in the latter stages of matches, with his pace and power already proving to be too much for the vast majority of defenders.

Traore would undoubtedly be a squad option for the Red Devils rather than a starter, but he is capable of being a game-changer, and there is certainly room for him to improve under the right manager. body check tags ::
