Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has reportedly held talks with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag ahead of a potential move.

Amrabat has emerged as a transfer target for Man United after putting in a number of impressive performances during the 2022-23 season.

The 26-year-old was an integral part of a Morocco side that progressed all the way to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar.

Amrabat also made 49 competitive appearances for Fiorentina last term, helping his side reach the finals of the Europa Conference League and the Coppa Italia.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli have been linked with a move but Man United are seemingly in pole position to secure his signature.

A recent report suggested that the Red Devils were close to finalising a £30m transfer for the Morocco international.

However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, there is currently no final agreement in place for Man United to sign the Fiorentina man.

Man United are still pushing to secure Ambarat's signature, and Ten Hag has allegedly held discussions with the player regarding a possible move.

The 20-time English champions could face competition from Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich, who are believed to be showing an interest.

The player's representatives are reportedly aware that Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is looking to find someone to fulfil the number six role.

With uncertainty surrounding his future, the Evening Standard reports that Amrabat was left out of Fiorentina's squad for their upcoming friendlies in England against Newcastle United and Nice in the Sela Cup.

Man United are hoping to make Amrabat their latest summer addition, having already signed Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

They are also set to complete the signing of Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund after reaching an agreement over a €70m (£60.1m) deal.
