Everton have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The 19-year-old has been strongly linked with United in recent weeks, and South American football expert Tim Vickery recently said that the Red Devils were in pole position for the midfielder.

Independiente general manager Santiago Morales recently denied that the 20-time English champions had been in contact, though, and according to Extra, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have cooled their interest.

The report claims that Everton are now leading the race for the teenager, although MLS outfit Atlanta United are also keeping a close eye on developments.

Caicedo, who has scored six times and registered two assists in 31 outings for his Ecuadorian club, is thought to be available for a fee in the region of £5.4m.

The Ecuador international has a contract with Independiente until December 2024. body check tags ::
