Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix emerges as potential option for Wolverhampton Wanderers?

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly emerge as a potential option for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix ahead of next season.

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix is allegedly prepared to consider a transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

The Portugal international is out of favour at Wanda Metropolitano, leading to Diego Simeone allowing him to make the temporary switch to Chelsea in January.

While Felix shown glimpses of his ability during his stint at Stamford Bridge, he netted just four goals during his 20 appearances in all competitions.

The 23-year-old would have considered remaining at Chelsea had they qualified for European football next season, as may have the club provided the green light to extend the arrangement.

Instead, Felix is now due back at his parent club and with decisions needing to be made regarding his future given the complexities of his availability.

Atletico, like they did in January, are expected to insist on either a substantial straight loan fee or that any interested party meet a valuation which will be in excess of £80m, a figure likely to be deemed unrealistic.

As a result, Marca hints that Felix is open to signing for a lower-end Premier League club to ensure that he continues to ply his trade in England.

Wolves are mentioned as a potential destination for the versatile attacker, who would be joined by players that he either knows from Atletico or the national team setup.

Even if Wolves sell Ruben Neves this summer, the likes of Nelson Semedo, Matheus Nunes, Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha have all played alongside Felix at some point.

The report suggests that Wolves' relationship with Jorge Mendes - the agent of Felix - could also help their cause if Julen Lopetegui wishes to sign the player.

That said, Wolves are in a position where they are attempting to move away from their reliance on Mendes, who has helped facilitate high-profile additions with mixed success in the past.

Felix has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United, but interest from either side appears to have dwindled in recent weeks.

Aston Villa - who have qualified for the Europa Conference League and are set to appoint Sevilla's Monchi as their new sporting director in due course - are another plausible destination in the short term.
