Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks with Nottingham Forest over the sale of goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 26-year-old was allowed to leave Old Trafford last summer and join Forest on a season-long loan deal to gain regular first-team football.

Henderson made a total of 20 appearances for Steve Cooper's side in all competitions, before his 2022-23 campaign was curtailed in January due to a thigh injury.

Keylor Navas was recruited on a short-term loan from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter window as a result of Henderson's injury and helped the Tricky Trees avoid relegation from the Premier League.

However, the 36-year-old is now expected to return to the French champions and explore his options elsewhere.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Forest are in advanced talks with Man United to sign Henderson on a permanent basis, with terms "almost agreed" on the player side.

However, Romano adds that the Red Devils will not give the green light for Henderson to depart until the future of David de Gea is resolved.

United's current number one is due to see his contract expire at the end of this month, but he has continuously reiterated his desire to remain at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag recently stated that the Spaniard will remain at United next season, but terms over a new contract are yet to be agreed between the player and the club.

In the meantime, Man United are understood to be scouting the market for a new goalkeeper, with Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa believed to be high on their list of possible targets.

The 23-year-old Portugal international has established himself as a key player for club and country and United are allegedly prepared to meet the £65m release clause in his contract.

Nevertheless, Costa recently played down speculation over a summer move to Old Trafford and expressed his desire to remain at Porto.

The likes of Brentford's David Raya, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, Everton's Jordan Pickford and Inter Milan's Andre Onana have also been linked with a potential summer switch to the red side of Manchester.
