Manchester United have reportedly offered Ronald Araujo the chance to double his salary in order to move to Old Trafford from Barcelona next year.

There is currently a host of speculation surrounding the centre-back's future, with Bayern Munich said to be desperate to sign him during the January transfer window.

Bayern are allegedly willing to pay 'whatever it takes' to sign the Uruguay international, with the German outfit's head coach Thomas Tuchel said to have spoken to the 24-year-old last week.

However, a deal will be incredibly complicated due to Barcelona's desire to keep hold of the defender, who signed a new contract at Camp Nou last year.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Man United are also keen on the South American, with the Red Devils said to have offered him the chance to double his current salary to make the move to Old Trafford.

Araujo is said to have ruled out a move in January, with the centre-back remaining committed to Barcelona, at least until the end of the campaign.

However, his situation could be revisited next summer, as Barcelona are likely to be under pressure to make a big sale due to their ongoing financial problems.

Man United would likely find it incredibly difficult to convince him to move to Old Trafford, though, unless they are able to secure Champions League football for the 2024-25 campaign.

Raphael Varane is expected to leave the Red Devils next year in search of pastures new, with the ex-France international said to have interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.

Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof also only have deals until the end of the campaign, but Harry Maguire is set to stay due to his recent resurgence under Erik ten Hag.

Lisandro Martinez is also vital to the club's plans moving forward, with the Argentina international expected to fully recover from a foot injury over the next three to four weeks.

Benfica's Antonio Silva is also believed to be admired by Man United, with two new centre-backs likely to arrive at the club next year.

However, a recent report claimed that the club's early elimination from European football this season will harm their spending during next summer's transfer window.

There are expected to be a number of exits at Old Trafford next year, with Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial also set to move on, while Casemiro could potentially leave for the right price. body check tags ::
