Manchester United are reportedly lining up a €50m (£44m) offer for Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra.

The 20-year-old only made his senior debut in the middle of April, but he finished last season with 10 La Liga appearances to his name, finding the back of the net against Real Valladolid.

Guerra was officially brought into the first team for the 2023-24 campaign, and he has been in impressive form this term, scoring three goals and registering one assist in nine La Liga appearances.

The midfielder's form has led to a host of speculation surrounding his future, with Man United and Newcastle United two of a number of clubs believed to be interested in his signature.

According to Fichajes, the 20-time English champions are now lining up a €50m (£44m) offer for Guerra in the hope of winning the race for his signature.

Guerra recently penned a new deal at Mestalla, which runs until June 2027 and includes a release clause of €100m (£87.3m).

However, Man United are said to be confident that their €50m (£44m) bid will be enough to tempt Valencia into a sale due to the Spanish club's financial problems.

The Red Devils are said to view Guerra as 'a key reinforcement' to strengthen their squad, with the Spaniard identified by the 20-time English champions as a leading target.

The midfielder scored against Sevilla on the opening weekend of the new La Liga campaign, before registering against both Atletico Madrid and Almeria in September.

Man United are currently well-stocked in the middle of midfield, with Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Hannibal Mejbri, Mason Mount, Christian Eriksen and Kobbie Mainoo all options.

Sofyan Amrabat arrived on loan from Fiorentina last month, meanwhile, and the Morocco international will hope to secure a permanent move to Old Trafford next summer.

There will be midfield departures over the next 12 months, though, with Van de Beek and McTominay both being linked with exits, which would open the door for another player to arrive in that area of the field.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is preparing to buy a 25% stake in Man United, is allegedly keen for the Red Devils to be active during the January transfer window.

However, a move for Guerra in the middle of the season would be highly unlikely unless Erik ten Hag's side were willing to pay his release clause. body check tags ::
