Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has reportedly instructed his club to pursue a move for Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala.

The 19-year-old has been in impressive form for the German champions this season, scoring seven times and registering eight assists in 13 appearances in all competitions.

The attacker has five goals and five assists in the Bundesliga, and he provided two assists in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the league.

Despite having four years left to run on his contract at Allianz Arena, there has recently been speculation surrounding the youngster, with Manchester United and Liverpool said to be interested in his services.

According to Calciomercato, Man City are also in the hunt, with the club's head coach Guardiola a huge admirer of the Germany international, viewing him as the ideal player to fit into his system.

Musiala spent time with Southampton and Chelsea during his youth career before joining Bayern in 2019, and he has since represented the German club on 91 occasions in all competitions, contributing 22 goals and 15 assists.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said last month that the youngster was "not for sale" amid the growing speculation surrounding his future.

"We brought him to Munich three years ago and we saw great qualities in him," he told Sky Deutschland. "The fact he has developed like this is due to our staff, our players.

"He is doing excellently. It's fun to watch him. He is a big win for our team. It is important that he stays with Bayern for a long time. We want to offer our players attractive football.

"It is important that Jamal plays for Bayern for a long time. Of course he is not for sale. He's an amazing boy, a Germany international. We need a guy like that. If I were to think about giving this boy away somehow, I'd be crazy. He will play for Bayern for a long time."

However, Musiala, who represented England at youth level, recently opened the door on a future move to the Premier League.

"Playing [my] whole career at FC Bayern? Many factors come together," Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano quoted the youngster as saying. "I'm very happy at Bayern. You never know what will happen in six to seven years.

"Premier League? Really strong league, big stars go there. But... no idea, now I'm at Bayern. [It's a] super top club."

Musiala was born in Germany before moving to England at the age of seven, and he turned out for Chelsea in their youth system for eight years before leaving at 16 for Bayern.

The attacker has won two Bundesliga titles, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup since making the move to Munich. body check tags ::
