Atletico Madrid have reportedly won the race for highly-rated teenager Arthur Vermeeren.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the Royal Antwerp midfielder's signature, with a number of clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona, said to be interested in a deal.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Atletico now have a full agreement over a move for the 18-year-old, who is set to undergo a medical on Friday.

Romano claims that a deal was agreed with Royal Antwerp earlier this week, and an announcement confirming the switch to Wanda Metropolitano will soon arrive.

The midfielder has been in impressive form for his Belgian club during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring twice and registering six assists in the process.

Vermeeren made a big impression in the group stage of this season's Champions League, meanwhile, scoring once and providing two assists in six appearances in the competition.

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Leeds United are considering making a loan move for Liverpool defender Nat Phillips before the January window closes for business.

The 26-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at Celtic, but he only made eight appearances for the Scottish giants before being recalled.

Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers have been credited with an interest in the defender, but Leeds are also believed to be keen.

Phillips has been with Liverpool since 2016, and he made 20 appearances for the club during the 2020-21 campaign due to the team's defensive injuries.

The centre-back has experience of playing in the Championship, meanwhile, turning out on 17 occasions in the second tier during a loan spell at Bournemouth in 2021-22.

Elsewhere, Burnley have allegedly not given up hope of signing Coventry City attacker Callum O'Hare before the January transfer window closes for business.

The 25-year-old only has a contract with his current side until the end of June, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future.

According to journalist Tom Collomosse, Burnley are keen on O'Hare, with a January deal not being ruled out, while Southampton and Leicester City are also interested.

Collomosse also claims that teams from La Liga are keeping a close eye on the situation.

O'Hare missed the start of the season due to a serious knee injury, but he returned to action in October and has made 16 appearances at club level this term, scoring six goals and registering one assist in the process.

The attacker's form has been key to Coventry's recent strong run of results, and he netted a brace against Championship leaders Leicester earlier this month. body check tags ::
