Manchester United will have 16 players present at the 2022 World Cup, with 14 of those active members of the first team, while two individuals currently out on loan will also take part in the tournament.

The Red Devils signed off for the break with a 2-1 victory over Fulham in the Premier League, and they will not be back in competitive action until December 21 against Burnley in the EFL Cup.

Erik ten Hag's side's next league game is against Nottingham Forest on December 27, meanwhile, and the club's manager will be keeping a close eye on the progress of his players at the tournament.

Here, Sports Mole looks at the countries that will have representatives from the 20-time English champions at the tournament in Qatar.

ARGENTINA

Lisandro Martinez will represent Argentina at the tournament, which is due to officially get underway this weekend.

The centre-back has been a vital player for the Red Devils since arriving from Ajax over the summer, making 21 appearances in all competitions in the opening months of the 2022-23 campaign, and he will be hoping to feature in the group stages against Mexico, Poland and Saudi Arabia.

BRAZIL

Alex Telles, who is currently on loan at Sevilla, has been named in the Brazil squad for the World Cup, and he is joined by two summer arrivals in the shape of Casemiro and Antony.

Antony has recently been absent for Man United due to a hip problem, but he is expected to be fit for Brazil's section opener against Serbia on November 24.

Fred has also been named in the squad by head coach Tite, meaning that there will be four Brazilians representing the 20-time English champions at the tournament.

DENMARK

Christian Eriksen scored his first Man United goal in Sunday's 2-1 victory at Fulham in the Premier League, and he will be in international action for Denmark in Qatar.

The 30-year-old, who has scored 39 goals and registered 26 assists in 117 caps for Denmark, will be bidding to be in the starting XI for his side's opener against Tunisia on November 22.

ENGLAND

Three Man United players have been picked in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the competition.

There was never any serious doubt over Harry Maguire's involvement despite his struggles for football this season, with the centre-back a favourite of the Three Lions boss.

Luke Shaw has managed to regain his starting role at left-back in recent weeks and is the favourite to line up on the left for England this summer, while Marcus Rashford earned a recall to the squad due to his form in the first half of the campaign, with the 24-year-old scoring eight goals and registering three assists in 19 outings.

FRANCE

There was serious doubt over Raphael Varane's involvement due to the hamstring problem that he picked up against Chelsea towards the end of last month.

However, the centre-back has been included in the France squad for the tournament, and he is bidding to be fit for their competition opener against Australia on November 22.

NETHERLANDS

Tyrell Malacia has been selected for his first major tournament, with the defender enjoying a successful first few months in a Man United shirt.

The 23-year-old has already made 15 appearances this season, including nine outings in the Premier League, and he will be hoping to add to the six caps that he has already earned for Holland.

PORTUGAL

There are also three Portuguese players representing Man United at the competition, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot all included.

Fernandes and Dalot have both been key players for the club this season, but Ronaldo has found it difficult to make his mark, only managing three goals in 16 appearances in all competitions.

TUNISIA

Hannibal Mejbri, who is currently out on loan at Birmingham City, has been named in the Tunisia squad for the tournament in Qatar.

The 19-year-old has been a regular for the Blues this season, making 15 appearances in all competitions, while he has been capped on 18 occasions by his country since debuting in June 2021.

URUGUAY

Facundo Pellistri is in the Uruguay squad for the World Cup, with the 20-year-old looking to add to the seven appearances that he has already made for the South American nation.

The attacker is yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils, but he has been a regular in the squad since recovering from the ankle injury that made him unavailable earlier this season.
