Morocco's best chance fell to Juventus defender Medhi Benatia, who could not fully capitalise on a scuffed clearance as his close-range shot was saved by Alireza Beiranvand.
Beiranvand was on hand again to deny Hakim Ziyech on 80 minutes, with a diving low save which proved to be even more valuable when Bouhaddouz headed the ball into his own net deep into stoppage time.
