Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has claimed that this afternoon's 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers is "tinged with sadness" due to Ryan Taylor's injury.
Taylor, 30, left the field in tears just 34 minutes into his first Premier League start for 32 months after suffering what is feared to be a repeat of his cruciate ligament injury.
Stand-in skipper Moussa Sissoko scored the only goal of the game as the Magpies extended a their winning streak to six games in all competitions, but Pardew says that the victory was bittersweet.
"I think we will know about Ryan Taylor in the next two or three hours. We are hoping it's just a scare," he told BBC Sport. "But today is tinged with sadness with Ryan's injury and we are sweating on the scan."
Victory lifted Pardew's side into the top four of the table, with the Magpies having previously gone seven games without a win from the start of the season.
