Newcastle United are lining up a bid to sign Atalanta's Robin Gosens, according to a report.

Eddie Howe is hoping to bring in up to five signings within this transfer market as he hopes to bolster his squad to aid their bid for Premier League survival.

The Magpies have already signed Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood within this window, with the club currently sat 19th in the Premier League table following their draw with Watford.

According to Sky Italia, Newcastle are lining up a bid to sign Gosens within this transfer window; however, they want assurances that he will be fit by mid-February.

This is because the 27-year-old has been unavailable since the end of September when he suffered a muscular injury during a Champions League fixture against Young Boys.

The Magpies will be back in action next Saturday when they face Leeds United in the Premier League table. body check tags ::
