Michael O'Neill: 'Northern Ireland confident of Euro 2016 qualification'

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill believes that his side can complete qualification for Euro 2016 against Hungary.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has suggested that his side are confident they can beat Hungary tonight and qualify for Euro 2016.

O'Neill's side are currently top of their qualifying group after a 3-1 win over the Faroe Islands on Friday, and the 46-year-old believes that they will not get stage fright ahead of a fixture which could see Northern Ireland qualify for a first international tournament in 30 years.

"Obviously we're confident, we've played seven games, won five and drawn one," O'Neill told reporters at a press conference ahead of tonight's match. "We've got all the characteristics to see this game through and see this campaign through.

"It's nice to go into the game top of the group, that's a nice position to be in. I don't think there's a nervousness in the players, there's an excitement, a really strong belief.

"They know what they're good at as a team and they execute it, so expect to see a level of performance similar to what we've had in the campaign."

O'Neill's side will take on Greece and Finland in their final Euro 2016 qualifiers in October.
