Peru have battled to a 1-0 win over Venezuela in the Copa America today, in a result which leaves Group C finely poised heading into the final set of games.
Venezuela made a fast start and almost took the lead in the seventh minute when Salomon Rondon was released on goal, but he failed to get sufficient power in his shot.
However, his side were reduced to 10 men on the half-hour mark as Fulham defender Fernando Amorebieta was sent off for a stamp on Paolo Guerro.
Peru struggled to create chances throughout the game, although Claudio Pizarro went close with a header just after the break.
The ex-Bayern Munich man didn't miss his next chance though, as he guided the ball home from close range following Christian Cueva's low cross.
The result leaves both teams locked on thee points, along with Brazil and Colombia.
