Kylian Mbappe has become the first player since Jimmy Greaves in 1965 to score 172 goals in a top-five European league before the age of 25.
Paris Saint-Germain's top scorer netted his eighth of the season in his eighth appearance, converting from the penalty spot in their 3-0 win over Strasbourg this evening.
Mbappe got the ball rolling, before Carlos Soler and Fabian Ruiz added to the scoreline to send PSG to the top of Ligue 1 for the time being.
Not turning 25 until December, Mbappe still has suitable time to better Greaves's record in the seven Ligue 1 games to come before his birthday on December 20.
Greaves scored his goals between 1957 and 1965, representing both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the First Division, as well as AC Milan briefly in Serie A.
The Spurs legend would go on to become English football's all-time record league goalscorer with 357, and like Mbappe, earned a World Cup winners' medal - albeit only years after famously being left out of the starting XI for the 1966 final against West Germany.
Mbappe is already PSG's all-time leading goalscorer, and he looks set to claim another Ligue 1 Golden Boot, after topping the standings in each of the previous five seasons.
While the PSG forward has never bettered his tally of 33 goals from the 2018-19 season, his numbers have steadily increased over the past three seasons.
In the seasons between 2020 and 2023, Mbappe notched up 27, 28 and 29 league goals respectively, while also registering 30 assists in that period.
Sixteen of Mbappe's league goals came at his former club Monaco, where he broke out as a 16-year-old in October 2015.
Mbappe would then join PSG in a deal worth £163m, making him the second-most expensive footballer of all time.
In the French capital, Mbappe has won five Ligue 1 titles and three Coupe de France crowns, as well as helping the Parisiens to a Champions League final in 2020.
