How Real Madrid could line up against Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Sunday's El Clasico with Barcelona.

Real Madrid will attempt to make it back-to-back wins when they travel to Barcelona for the latest instalment of El Clasico on Sunday afternoon.

Los Blancos ended a five-game winless streak by beating Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but the Madrid giants are without a La Liga victory for over one month.

It might will be Julen Lopetegui's final match in charge of the European champions, although a strong performance and indeed result could see the former Spain boss continue at the Bernabeu.

Madrid's last La Liga win over Barcelona actually came at Camp Nou in April 2016, and the capital outfit, who are currently seventh in the league, will be looking for another success this weekend.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how the away side could line up on Sunday afternoon.

Out: Dani Carvajal (calf)
Doubtful: Marcelo (ankle)

Dani Carvajal will again miss out for Real Madrid due to a calf problem, and there had been a serious concern over Marcelo, with the Brazilian picking up a knock to his ankle during the clash with Plzen earlier this week.

Marcelo should make the XI, however, and is expected to be joined by Nacho on the opposite side.

Keylor Navas was given the nod between the sticks against Plzen, but Thibaut Courtois should return for this match, while Toni Kroos, Casemiro and Luka Modric will all start in the middle of the park.

Neither Gareth Bale nor Karim Benzema started the 2-1 defeat to Levante last weekend, although the pair were in the XI against Plzen, and that will again be the case this weekend.

The other spot in the front three is where it becomes interesting, with Isco and Marco Asensio vying for the position. That said, Lucas Vazquez is another option for Lopetegui, who is in desperate need of all three points.
