Real Madrid missing two players for Celta Vigo clash

Real Madrid will be without the services of two players for Saturday's La Liga clash with Celta Vigo.

Ferland Mendy remains on the sidelines with a calf problem, while David Alaba is unavailable due to the hamstring injury that he picked up against Chelsea in the Champions League last week.

Alaba was on the sidelines earlier this year with a hamstring injury, and he is now facing another spell out, with the Austria international believed to be a doubt for the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna on May 6.

Karim Benzema was also substituted in the latter stages of the 2-0 win over Chelsea in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.

However, the 35-year-old has been declared fit to start against Celta, with the issue only minor.

"He's fine, he's recovered well. I took him off in the last game because I thought he was exhausted. When you're like that in the game I think Karim, [Toni] Kroos or [Luka] Modric can rest," Ancelotti told reporters during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"The important thing is to explain it. I told him, if I can take minutes off him, I'm going to do it so that he can have a rest, especially if he has a small problem. I spoke to him and he understood perfectly."

Benzema could start on the bench against Celta, though, while there are expected to be changes elsewhere, with Kroos and Modric also likely to be rested for the first whistle.

Real Madrid have four league games against Celta, Girona, Almeria and Real Sociedad before taking on Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final on May 6.

Los Blancos will then host Manchester City for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on May 9 before the reverse fixture in Manchester on May 17.

"We have a lot of respect for Celta. They have a well-defined organisation, and individualities. It is a team that we have to respect and do our best to win," Ancelotti added when asked about Saturday's opposition.

"We have to do our job and fight until the last game. I think we're in a good dynamic, so the objective is to fight until the end and maintain a good dynamic. The matches in La Liga are for this: to maintain this good dynamic, the team is doing very well."

Real Madrid are second in the La Liga table, 11 points behind leaders Barcelona, while they are only two points ahead of third-placed Atletico Madrid.

Real Madrid squad vs. Celta Vigo:

Courtois, Lunin, Lopez; Carvajal, Militao, Vallejo, Nacho, Odriozola, Vazquez, Rudiger; Kroos, Modric, Camavinga, Valverde, Tchouameni, Ceballos; Hazard, Benzema, Asensio, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mariano
