Real Madrid have revealed that Lucas Vazquez is facing a spell out with a hamstring problem, while Toni Kroos will be absent against Arandina on Saturday due to an ankle issue.

A medical report issued by the club on Friday afternoon confirmed a thigh problem for Vazquez, who would have been in line for a start against Arandina in the Copa del Rey this weekend.

"Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player Lucas Vazquez, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in his right thigh. His progress will be monitored," read a statement on Real Madrid's official website.

The 32-year-old has made 20 appearances for Real Madrid this season, scoring once and providing three assists, and he is expected to be out for at least the next three weeks.

As a result, Vazquez will miss the game with Arandina, in addition to the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, where Los Blancos will meet Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals ahead of a potential final against Barcelona or Osasuna.

A three-week absence would also see him miss out against Almeria in La Liga on January 21 before potentially returning against Las Palmas on January 28.

Kroos, meanwhile, suffered an ankle issue during Real Madrid's 1-0 win over Mallorca on Wednesday, and the German is not involved in the squad against Arandina.

However, head coach Carlo Ancelotti is hopeful that the experienced midfielder will be available for the Spanish Super Cup.

"Toni Kroos has some problems, he won't travel tomorrow. Kroos has suffered a small problem in his ankle vs. Mallorca but he will be available for the Supercopa in Saudi Arabia," the Italian told reporters during his press conference on Friday afternoon.

The 34-year-old has again been an important player for Real Madrid this season, scoring once and providing six assists in 24 appearances, but he is out of contract this summer.

Eduardo Camavinga is back in the squad for the clash with Arandina after recovering from a knee problem, but Ferland Mendy, David Alaba, Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois remain unavailable for selection.

There will also be no Vinicius Junior or Aurelien Tchouameni for Saturday's game, with the pair being left out of the squad, having only just recovered from injury problems.

The defensive absentees could open the door for Alvaro Carrillo and Vinicius Tobias to be involved, while Alvaro Rodriguez is in the senior squad for the first time this season.

Summer arrival Arda Guler is also in line to make his debut for Los Blancos, with the Turkey international seemingly putting his injury problems behind him.
