Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe has made it clear once again that he will not sign a new deal with the French champions, according to a report.

The 24-year-old has been at the centre of a protracted transfer saga for a couple of years now, having rejected interest from Real Madrid to extend his stay at PSG last year.

However, Mbappe's future was in the limelight once again this summer after it emerged that he had sent a letter to PSG informing them that he would not be triggering the 12-month option in his contract.

Mbappe's renewal in 2022 was a two-year extension with a possible third, meaning that the France international will be able to walk out of the door for nothing at the end of the season as things stand.

PSG's attempts to offload Mbappe during the summer window were unsuccessful, despite a world-record bid from Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal, whom the striker had no interest in talking to.

Mbappe was initially exiled from the first-team squad and made to train with an out-of-favour troupe, but following constructive talks with the hierarchy, he has been reintegrated into the setup.

There has even been rumours of a potential PSG contract extension with a release clause, which would allow the former Monaco man to complete a drama-free transfer to Real Madrid in 2024.

However, 90Min claims that Mbappe is standing firm in his position that he will not put pen to paper on a new deal with the Ligue 1 champions, even though he has affirmed on multiple occasions that he wants to see out the season at the Parc des Princes.

The report adds that talk of a renewal with that aforementioned clause is wide of the mark, although he has agreed to forgo a loyalty bonus he is owed worth approximately €80m (£68.7m).

PSG would supposedly save close to €100m (£85.8m) thanks to Mbappe's decision, but the 24-year-old is still on course to depart for nothing next year, unless Les Parisiens can agree a sale in January.

Such a scenario is unlikely, though, as Real are expected to wait until the summer of 2024 before splashing the cash on a big-name striker, and Mbappe is not expected to have a change of heart over a move to the Middle East.

After missing the opening game of the 2023-24 season against Lorient amid his banishment, Mbappe has since netted five goals in three Ligue 1 matches for Enrique's side since returning to the fold.

The World Cup winner - who became PSG's all-time leading goalscorer last season - now has 217 goals under his belt from 263 matches in a Parisien shirt, in addition to 98 assists.

Mbappe has collected 13 major honours with the capital giants in that time, including five Ligue 1 titles, but he is yet to add a Champions League winners' medal to his collection.

Following the exits of Lionel Messi and Neymar, and in anticipation of Mbappe's expected departure next year, PSG signed Goncalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, Marco Asensio, Ousmane Dembele, Bradley Barcola and Xavi Simons - who is on loan at RB Leipzig - during a hectic summer window. body check tags ::
