Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to increase their offer to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies.

Since moving to the Allianz Arena in 2019, Davies has established himself as a key man, making a total of 181 appearances during that period.

Nine goals and 28 assists have been contributed with the Canada international becoming widely viewed as one of the best left-sided players in the world.

Bayern would prefer to retain the services of the 23-year-old in the long term, regardless of the uncertainty surrounding who will replace Thomas Tuchel as head coach for 2024-25 onwards.

However, the Bundesliga outfit find themselves in a weak position when it comes to negotiating his future with less than 18 months remaining on his contract.

While there is a scenario that could play out where Bayern risk losing Davies on a free transfer and keep him in their ranks without a renewal, that is highly unlikely in the current financial climate.

With there being few signs that Davies is prepared to pen fresh terms with Bayern, that has only interested a number of admirers including Liverpool and Manchester City.

Nevertheless, Real have been viewed as the strongest suitors for some time and it appears that they remain focused on tying up a deal for Davies as soon as possible.

According to Cadena Ser, Los Blancos are prepared to raise their previous planned bid for the player in order to secure his signature.

The report claims that a proposal will be increased to €50m (£42.8m) in an effort to convince Bayern into a sale at a time when the German side are believed to be assessing alternatives.

La Liga chief Javier Tebas has stated on numerous occasions that Real are in an extremely strong financial position ahead of the next transfer window and have the capabilities of making major additions.

Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia are currently competing for the left-back role, with both players having spent time in the starting lineup under Carlo Ancelotti this campaign.

That said, it is plausible that one of those players would be sold should Davies arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu, potentially Mendy who has less than 18 months on his contract himself. body check tags ::
