Rotherham United boss Steve Evans slams "unacceptable" first-half display

After conceding three goals in the first half against Cardiff City, Rotherham United boss Steve Evans admits that it was an "unacceptable" showing before half time.

Steve Evans has described his Rotherham United side's first-half display against Cardiff City in the Championship last night as "unacceptable".

The Millers were 3-0 down at half time after goals from Bruno Ecuele Manga, Federico Macheda and Conor McAleny before they won the second half by a single goal to lose the match 3-1.

Evans was angry with his side's capitulation in the opening period, but felt that they flew out of the blocks.

"I think we started the game well and we were in total control," he told the club website.

"The first time Cardiff got into our box was from a corner and an individual error leads to the player scoring a simple header. That was an individual not doing his job because we don't zonal mark, we man mark.

"The second goal is difficult to accept because it looks offside and the third was unfortunate because it took two or three ricochets. But obviously when you go three nil down it's unacceptable."

Defeat leaves Rotherham just above the drop zone, while Millwall also lost last night, meaning that the gap back to the Lions remains six points.
