Ralph Hasenhuttl waiting on Nathan Redmond injury news

Nathan Redmond hobbled off the field in Southampton's 1-0 win over Fulham.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl does not yet know if Nathan Redmond will be available to face Manchester United this weekend after the midfielder hobbled out of Southampton's 1-0 win over Fulham.

Teenager Michael Obafemi scored his first goal of the season on his first start to secure the Saints a place in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Craven Cottage.

Redmond was forced off in the 76th minute, and when asked about his chances of facing United, Hasenhuttl said: "I don't know yet, I cannot tell you, I would like to say but I cannot.

"We don't know yet, we must wait for the diagnosis."

Scott Parker, who made nine changes from the Fulham side which lost to Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship last weekend, emphasised the importance of giving youth a chance.

The Cottagers boss said: "It was a good test for us, it was a good run out for the boys who haven't played to get 90 minutes.

"The most pleasing thing for me is obviously the young players to be involved and around it really.

"I think this football club has been known over the years for giving young players an opportunity, it's certainly something I believe in.

"I want every young footballer at this club to understand that if they do things the right way and work hard that they will get the opportunity.

"It was a big plus to see the young boys on, it's a massive experience for them."
