Managerless Tottenham Hotspur will play host to West Ham United tomorrow evening, with the winners securing their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

It's a London derby that has often produced late drama and a large number of goals.

Below, Sports Mole has picked out five of the most memorable encounters between the two rivals.

1. Tottenham 4-4 West Ham, December 1962
Dave Mackay scored a number of important goals for Spurs and the left-half managed to record one hat-trick. It was a feat that he achieved when West Ham visited White Hart Lane just before Christmas in 1962. It was he and John Smith who put the home side 2-0 up, but goals from Joe Kirkup and Martin Peters, who would score in the World Cup final for England four years later, drew the Hammers level. Mackay struck again as Spurs restored their lead, but goals from Ronnie Boyce and Tony Scott looked to have secured all three points for the East Londoners. However, in the third minute of stoppage time, Mackay completed his trio of goals to ensure that the spoils would be shared.

2. Tottenham 0-4 West Ham, September 1981
West Ham returned to Division One in 1981 following a four-year absence. The Spurs side that they faced on this occasion were the FA Cup holders, thanks largely to Ricky Villa's dancing feet. On paper, at least, a home win looked inevitable, but David Cross had other ideas. The West Ham striker had scored four goals in a match against Grimsby Town during the previous campaign and he repeated that achievement here. What's more, his quartet of strikes in this shock result were scored with England's Ray Clemence keeping goal for the home side.

3. West Ham 4-3 Tottenham, February 1997
When Spurs made the short trip to Upton Park in the winter of 1997, their hosts were in a poor run of form. They had won just one of their previous 14 Premier League encounters, while also having been knocked out of the League Cup and the FA Cup by Stockport County and Wrexham respectively. Manager Harry Redknapp reacted by paying out £7m to sign strikers John Hartson and Paul Kitson and both got their names on the scoresheet - their first goals for the club - after Julian Dicks had cancelled out Teddy Sheringham's opener for Tottenham. Strikes from Darren Anderton and David Howells looked to have sealed a draw for Spurs, but Dicks settled the contest from the penalty spot.

4. West Ham 3-4 Tottenham, March 2007
In a side that contained the likes of Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov, few would have predicted that the unlikely Paul Stalteri would be Tottenham's hero on this occasion. The hosts, who were staring relegation in the face, opened up a two-goal advantage courtesy of Mark Noble and Argentine frontman Carlos Tevez. The away side responded positively, though, and were level as Defoe scored from the penalty spot, before Teemu Tainio converted a volley. The game swung back West Ham's way five minutes from time when Bobby Zamora headed in, but Berbatov struck in the 89th minute to draw the North Londoners level again. However, that wasn't the end of the scoring as substitute Stalteri fired in from close range to break West Ham hearts with virtually no stoppage time remaining.

5. West Ham 2-3 Tottenham, February 2013
On the 20th anniversary of Bobby Moore's death, West Ham were determined to put on a decent performance. They did just that, although the result went against them. Gareth Bale broke the deadlock for Spurs early on, but goals either side of the break from Andy Carroll and Joe Cole put the home team in the ascendancy. Gylfi Sigurdsson then drew Tottenham level 14 minutes from the end and despite a number of shots from Bale, it appeared that Jussi Jaaskelainen was going to salvage a point for West Ham. The Finnish goalkeeper had no chance in the last minute, though, as the Welsh winger added to his ever expanding goals catalogue with a strike from distance.
