Richarlison denies leading Antonio Conte "mutiny" at Tottenham Hotspur

Richarlison denies suggestions that he was behind a "mutiny" to remove Antonio Conte as the Tottenham Hotspur head coach.

Richarlison has denied suggestions that he had any involvement in the dismissal of Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte.

Last weekend, as expected, the Italian was removed from his position on the back of his scathing criticism of his squad after their capitulation to draw 3-3 with Southampton.

Conte questioned the character of his players, subsequently resulting in claims that a number of players had wanted to see him sacked before they resumed Premier League action after the international break.

In the days after Conte's departure, a journalist from Argentinian broadcaster TyC Sports said that Richarlison and Cristian Romero gave ultimatums regarding their manager's future.

Those claims follow Richarlison having let his frustrations boil over in the weeks beforehand, questioning why he was not being provided with more game time.

The Brazil international was not the subject of criticism with regards to the Southampton setback having been withdrawn during the early minutes through injury.

Nevertheless, he has taken to social media in order to shut down speculation regarding his feelings about his former boss.

Richarlison said: "Questioning and criticising me as a player for my performance is part of football and I got it.

"However, telling lies about me, I don't accept! I've always had a lot of respect for Conte and for all my coaches.

"He helped me a lot in my (sic) coming to the Spurs and, whenever we had a problem (even if it was public) we solved it based on conversation and professionalism - and this he can confirm.

"I wasn't a mutiny leader against him, it was quite the opposite. I'm sorry I didn't deliver as much as he expected of me and I didn't do enough for him to stay."

Last summer, Spurs made the decision to commit to paying £60m for the Everton striker, the hope being that he could establish a key role in the final third and act as competition to Harry Kane.

Instead, the 25-year-old has scored just two goals - in the same match - from 14 starts and 13 substitute outings in all competitions. body check tags ::
