Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie is reportedly set to fly to London to complete his medical with Tottenham Hotspur early next week.

A fee of approximately €20m (£16.9m) is believed to have been agreed between the two clubs, only weeks after Udogie made his move to Le Zebrette permanent.

The 19-year-old joined Udinese on loan from Hellas Verona last term and thrived in the Zebrette's 3-5-2 system, contributing five goals and three assists from 35 outings in all tournaments.

Udinese paid just £3.6m to sign him from the Gialloblu on a permanent basis, and Tottenham quickly took notice of his performances as they continue their raid of the Serie A market.

The Italy Under-21 international was initially expected to undergo his medical in his homeland, as he will remain on loan with the Serie A club for the 2022-23 season.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Udogie will instead fly into London on Monday to undergo his medical, and the formalities of his move will be completed 24 hours later.

The teenager will put pen to paper on his Tottenham contract before flying back to Udinese, who begin their Serie A campaign against reigning champions AC Milan on Saturday.

One of Udogie's five goals last term actually came at San Siro against the Rossoneri in a 1-1 draw, as he started 29 Serie A games in total and also made two appearances in the Coppa Italia.

Udogie is set to become Antonio Conte's seventh acquisition of the summer window, following Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Djed Spence and Clement Lenglet to the club.

Perisic also arrived from Italy after his contract at Inter Milan expired, joining fellow Calcio members Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero in North London.

Tottenham are expected to focus on outgoings once Udogie's signing has been completed, having already allowed Steven Bergwijn, Jack Clarke, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Kion Etete to depart this summer.

Joe Rodon has also departed on loan for Rennes, who have the option to make the deal permanent in 2023, while Alfie Whiteman, Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett will ply their trades elsewhere this term.

Udogie's arrival would push Sergio Reguilon further down the pecking order, and the Spaniard - who is already behind Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon - is expected to leave in the coming weeks.

Both Villarreal and Fiorentina are thought to be interested in signing Giovani Lo Celso, and the former club have allegedly also held talks over a deal for Tanguy Ndombele.

Tottenham will aim to build on their 4-1 win over Southampton when they tackle London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in gameweek two of the 2022-23 Premier League season.
