Everton 'still leading race for Mohammed Kudus'

Everton are reportedly leading the race to sign Ajax star Mohammed Kudus.

The forward starred for Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar, scoring two in their 3-2 win over South Korea as he started all three of their group games.

Kudus has enjoyed a successful spell for Ajax this season as well, scoring 10 times and assisting twice in 21 appearances, with four of those goals and two assists coming in just six Champions League group games.

This season's form has seen him attract interest from across Europe, with Ghanaian journalist Gary Al-Smith claiming that there is Premier League interest from three clubs, but that Everton are ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the race for his signature.

The 22-year-old's current deal runs out in 2025 and if Ajax do decide to let them leave, they will want to recoup much more than the £9m they paid for him back in 2020.

Ajax return to action on January 8 but it is likely any January deal would be an expensive venture. body check tags ::
