Fiorentina are reportedly contemplating making an approach for Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil.

Having lost out to West Ham United in the Europa Conference League final in 2022-23, there was potential for a hangover effect at I Viola.

However, Fiorentina have responded with some of their best results in Serie A for some time, currently occupying fourth position in the standings after 19 games.

While chasing down the 15-point gap to leaders Inter Milan is realistically out of the question, ending a 15-year absence from the Champions League is not.

The success of Vincenzo Italiano's side this season has been based on a solid defence, with just 19 goals being conceded in as many matches.

After netting just 27 strikes, though, there is room for improvement in the final third, and options are currently being considered ahead of potential proposals being put forward.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina are ready to try to sign Gil before the end of the month.

Although the 22-year-old has endured a stop-start career at Spurs, head coach Ange Postecoglou has provided the Spaniard with opportunities since his arrival.

Nevertheless, just two starts and six substitute outings have been made in the Premier League during 2023-24, with Gil featuring for only 177 minutes.

With Timo Werner on the brink of signing from RB Leipzig, Gil's game time is unlikely to increase, and there is scope for an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The North Londoners are expected to be open to loan or permanent deals, with Gil still having two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.

Gil's only periods of regular football since signing for Spurs in 2021 have been out on loan at Valencia and Sevilla respectively.

During the second half of 2022-23, the Spain international made 24 appearances as he helped the latter move away from the La Liga relegation zone and win the Europa League. body check tags ::
