Roma have reportedly offered midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini a new contract in an attempt to ward off interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs are looking for a replacement for Christian Eriksen ahead of the Dane's contract expiring at the end of the 2019-20 season.
Pellegrini, who made his debut for Roma in 2014, has emerged as an ideal candidate for the North London club having impressed with his performances in the attacking midfield role.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A side are working hard to agree fresh terms with the Italian.
The 23-year-old's current deal contains a release clause which enables him to leave for £25m - something that Roma are keen to remove.
Spurs will reportedly face competition from Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan for the signature of Pellegrini should the midfielder refuse to strike a new deal with Roma.body check tags ::
