Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

Spurs have been one of the most active teams in the January transfer window, parting ways with a number of players and replacing them with two notable additions.

Defender Radu Dragusin has arrived from Genoa on a permanent basis, while forward Timo Werner has been acquired from RB Leipzig on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.

Ange Postecoglou will be delighted with the club's activity thus far, yet the door seemingly remains open to add a central midfielder to his ranks.

The North Londoners have been heavily linked with Chelsea's Conor Gallagher at a time when the Blues have been open to cashing in on someone who has proven to be a key man under Mauricio Pochettino.

Nevertheless, Gallagher currently has no desire to leave Stamford Bridge, effectively forcing Spurs to look elsewhere even though there is scope for the situation to change later in 2024.

According to football.london, Wharton is a name that has been mentioned among Spurs officials of late.

Last year, the 19-year-old was linked with a transfer to Manchester United before the Red Devils seemingly changed direction in the market, a consequence of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's purchasing a 25% stake.

However, remaining at Ewood Park has enabled Wharton to continue his development with regular football, with a total of 25 starts and four substitute outings being made in all competitions during 2023-24.

The most recent of his two goals and three assists came through a strike during the 1-1 draw against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Wharton only penned a contract extension as recently as last month, signing a deal that keeps him tied to Blackburn until the end of 2027-28.

That said, with Blackburn now struggling in the Championship and prioritising avoiding a relegation scrap over a promotion bid, proposals in the region of £10m may be considered.

Newcastle United have also been credited as admirers of the England Under-20 international, albeit currently not being in a position to sign him on a permanent deal. body check tags ::
