Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to let Djed Spence leave the club during the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old has not formed part of Ange Postecoglou's first-team plans in North London, failing to make an appearance for Spurs during the 2023-24 term.

Instead, Spence is currently on loan at Italian side Genoa for the remainder of the season, looking to earn first-team minutes in Serie A.

Since making the switch to Genoa, the defender has featured nine times in the league for Alberto Gilardino's men, failing to register a goal contribution.

After his move from Championship outfit Middlesbrough to Spurs in 2022, Spence's career is yet to progress, with the youngster playing just six times across all competitions for Tottenham.

Spurs ready to offload Spence?

According to Football Insider, Tottenham have decided that their transfer strategy surrounding defender Spence ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The report claims that the Lilywhites are willing to part company with the former Nottingham Forest loanee following the conclusion of the current season.

Although loan moves away from North London have been common for Spence over recent seasons, it is believed that Spurs are now open to permanent offers for the player.

Spence has struggled massively for game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and sits firmly behind the likes of Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal in the pecking order at right-back.

The defender's only first-team minutes under the tutelage of Australian Postecoglou arrived during Spurs' pre-season schedule versus Barcelona in August, when the Genoa loanee featured for just 18 minutes off the bench.

Troubling Leeds United spell

Looking to reinvigorate his stuttering career, Spence moved to Championship side Leeds on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window.

However, the Spurs right-back did not adapt well to life at Elland Road and failed to cement a spot in Daniel Farke's preferred XI as his side hunted down an immediate return to the Premier League.

Veteran defender Luke Ayling also struggled to earn regular minutes, with 18-year-old Archie Gray being the go-to man at right-back for Leeds this term.

Spence managed just seven second-tier appearances for the promotion-chasing Whites - with only five of those being starts - before returning to North London at the start of January.
