How Sweden could line up against Slovakia

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Sweden could line up for Friday's Euro 2020 clash with Slovakia.

Sweden meet Group E rivals Slovakia on Friday, seeking to add to a point gained versus Spain, with a place in the knockout stages for the first time since 2004 potentially just 90 minutes away.

As they rarely deviate from a 4-4-2 setup, Janne Andersson's side will take a familiar shape in St Petersburg, and the experienced head coach could even name an unchanged XI.

The defence is certain to be helmed by Manchester United's Victor Lindelof - UEFA's man of the match in the opening game - while Albin Ekdal should again take his place at the heart of the Sweden engine room.

Though Mattias Svanberg has been cleared to return to action after recently testing positive for COVID-19, he is most likely to only make the bench, with Kristoffer Olsson once more set to join Ekdal in the middle.

Andersson will also have the luxury of reintroducing Dejan Kulusevski to the squad, after both the Juventus winger and Svanberg were previously left behind in Stockholm while the rest of the squad prepared for the Spain game. Now, after returning negative tests, both Serie A stars have re-entered the Sweden bubble and may feature at some stage against the Slovaks.

Up front, Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak proved a lively presence and hit the post in Seville, so should start alongside veteran striker Marcus Berg this time out.

In support of the front pair, RB Leipzig's Emil Forsberg will be given greater license to get forward from a wide position, with Kulusevski, Robin Quaison and Viktor Claesson options to be called upon as legs tire in the second half.

Sweden possible starting lineup: Olsen; Lustig, Lindelof, Danielson, Augustinsson; S. Larsson, Ekdal, Olsson, Forsberg; Isak, Berg
