Matt Jarvis wants chance to impress Sam Allardyce

West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis plans to impress Sam Allardyce if called upon in tonight's League Cup tie against Burnley at Turf Moor.

West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis has insisted that he is ready to seize a chance to impress boss Sam Allardyce in tonight's League Cup tie against Burnley.

The Hammers face a tricky trip to Turf Moor in this evening's fourth-round tie, taking on a Burnley side riding high at the top of the Championship after a strong start to the season.

Jarvis believes that starting against Burnley tonight can provide the perfect platform to press home his claims for regular first-team football after coming off the bench in Sunday's goalless draw with Swansea City.

He told The Mirror: "I want to play in every game so I'm hopeful of playing on Tuesday night.

"It's a chance to try and impress the manager and show him that you should be playing every week. When you get a chance, you really need to show what you can do and hopefully get yourself in the team.

"A cup tie is always a great game to play in. We're away so hopefully we will have a good turn out by the fans and give them something to shout about by getting through."

The 27-year-old scored his only goal of the season in West Ham's last League Cup tie - a 3-2 win over Cardiff City in the third round.
