Sam Allardyce: 'Second-half display disappointing'

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce praises the resolve shown by his side in last night's victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Sam Allardyce has admitted that he was left feeling "disappointed" by West Ham United's second-half display against West Bromwich Albion last night in their 2-1 victory.

Goals from Kevin Nolan and James Tomkins before the half time interval helped the Hammers to turn around an early deficit at The Hawthorns, and after withstanding a series of late attacks from the home side West Ham were able to claim their fifth win in eight outings.

However, Allardyce claims that his side should have done more to create chances of their own in the second 45 minutes, while at the same time retaining his jovial mood in order to see the wider picture.

"I was disappointed in the second half, I have to say," he is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo. "I thought we were going to go on and create even more chances, but we defended right and defended well to secure the three points.

"Twenty-four points for us, at this stage of the season, is one hell of a total. If you look where we were at this time last year, we were almost in the bottom three, I think."

West Ham, who are now fifth in the Premier League table, return to action on the weekend with a home match against Swansea City.
