West Ham United boss David Moyes says that he was "really disappointed" with the actions of Andy Carroll during last weekend's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

West Ham United boss David Moyes has admitted that he was "really disappointed" with the actions of Andy Carroll during last weekend's Premier League clash with Manchester City.

After the match - which City won 4-1 - Moyes vowed to "deal with" the 29-year-old, who decided to return to the dressing room once all three of West Ham's changes had been made.

Carroll and Moyes are believed to have had an angry confrontation during training on Monday, with the Hammers forward, who was sent home, still upset at being overlooked for the clash at the London Stadium.

Carroll was back in training on Wednesday, but Moyes has said that there can be 'no excuse' for the striker's behaviour.

"I was really disappointed in Andy. I don't believe there was any excuse for what he did. He's been fined but he has apologised, both to me and the players, and I think he understands it was wrong," Moyes wrote in the London Evening Standard.

"The following day we had a discussion in the office at Rush Green. I told him it was unacceptable and sent him away. Within an hour, it seemed, it was out there for public consumption, which is also disappointing. Things go on all the time at clubs and there needs to be some privacy."

Carroll has scored three times in 14 Premier League appearances for West Ham this season.
