Danny Kerry admits that England's women's hockey side have aspects of their game to work on ahead of next week's meeting with Malaysia.

England women's head coach Danny Kerry has admitted that his side have lessons to learn ahead of their second Glasgow 2014 pool game against Malaysia.

A determined effort from Wales earlier today was not enough to halt England, as goals in either half from Alex Danson and Nicola White paved the way for Kerry's side to pick up the points.

"To win and play not as well as we can was good," Kerry said. "The second half was much better, it was just about trying to play with more brains and trying to keep the ball in bigger pieces of space.

"Wales were defending deep and with real tenacity so it was just ensuring we didn't play into the hands of that. We did that better for periods in the second half but we need to make sure we do it for the full 70 minutes. That's what we need to work on ahead of playing Malaysia."

Georgie Twigg left the field early on after being hit in the groin, and it was revealed after the game that she will go for an assessment on the injury.
