Team GB judoka Sally Conway has insisted that she is proud of her performance at the European Games despite being knocked out in the -70kg bronze-medal repechage.
The 28-year-old re-entered the competition after losing to Szaundra Diedrich of Germany, but she failed to capitalise on her second chance as Hungary's Szabina Gercsak earned the victory.
Conway's disappointment was compounded by the fact that the European Games are also acting as judo's European Championships this year, but the Scot remains upbeat about her run in Baku.
"I'm always proud to represent Team GB, whether I win or lose," she told Sports Mole. "I'm always proud to fight for my country. The crowd here has been amazing as well. At this moment in time I'm thinking that I haven't done as well as I wanted to, but on reflection it's been an amazing event at an amazing venue. At next year's Europeans I hope to do better."
Conway won a bronze medal for Scotland at last year's Commonwealth Games, while more recently she finished in second place at the Croatian Grand Prix.
