Olympic gold medallist Philip Hindes has his bike stolen by thieves during a raid on his home in Manchester.

Team GB cyclist and Olympic gold medallist Philip Hindes has had his bike stolen from his home in Manchester.

The 19-year-old's home was ransacked by intruders, who snatched the red, white and blue Pinarello Paris bike, which is said to have a 'Sky' sticker and his name displayed on it.

Detective Constable Rob Southern of West Didsbury CID said: "The reason we have publicised this theft is so that we can catch the people responsible and return the bike to its rightful owner.

"I would therefore ask anyone who is offered a bike matching this description and the image we have released to call police immediately.

"It might be the thieves try and offload the bike onto a sports memorabilia collector so I would urge anyone who is offered the chance to buy such a bike to call police immediately as you could be vital to helping get this bike back."

Hindes, who won gold at the London Games this summer as part of the men's team sprint alongside Sir Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny, was not at home when the raid took place.
