Most people know that Royal Ascot has been taking place every year for a long time but did you know that there have been events since 1768? This first Royal meeting is extremely valuable due to its longevity.

13,000 Flowers

Did you know that there are over 13,000 flowers and plants that are grown every single year for Royal Ascot? If you take a look at some of the photos of the recent events, you'll see how this all comes to life. The flowers are really something to marvel at.


400 Helicopters and 1,000 limos

Royal Ascot is seen as a classy event and so the guests need to make sure that they get there in style. There are usually around 400 helicopters and 1,000 limos that arrive at the event every single year.

26,000 items of furniture

The furniture that is installed at the Royal Ascot racecourse is temporary and it is hired for the event every single year. There are around 26,000 items of furniture that are required for the Royal Meeting.

Huge Staff Increases

Did you know that in the lead up to Royal Ascot there are around 163 full time staff but this is hugely increased when the event comes along? There are more than 6,500 temporary staff members hired to help deal with the busy schedule and the horses.

£7.3M in prize money

Royal Ascot is considered the most valuable race meeting in the UK with £7.3m in prize money on offer. When you also consider the high volume of Ascot betting every year, you'll see just how much money is moved around at this event.

The social media coverage of the Royal Ascot event is pretty big every single year. You can expect to see around 976,258 video views and over 120,000 tweets using the official hashtag every year.

33 Live Music Acts

Live music is a big part of the event with various artists performing over the course of the five days. Previously, there have been 33 live music acts performing at the event.

Royal Ascot isn't something that is just very popular in the UK, you'll also find that it is viewed in over 200 countries around the world. People tune in to not only see the races but also to catch a bit of the overall buzz of the event.

39 Professional Kitchens


Food is a big deal at Royal Ascot and there are 39 professional kitchens set up to deal with the demand. Over the course of the five days, you can usually expect 120,000 buttermilk scones to be consumed alongside 240,000 handcrafted afternoon tea cakes. Not only that but there are around 5,000 angus steaks and 3,500 fresh lobsters.
