Great Britain took home their fifth gold medal of the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Otopeni as Duncan Scott surged to the men's 200m individual medley crown.

The three-time Commonwealth champion touched the wall with 1:50.98, beating silver medallist Alberto Razzetti of Italy by over two seconds, as the runner-up clocked 1:53.09.

Lithuania's Danas Rapsys just pipped Scott's compatriot Joe Litchfield to the bronze medal, finishing with 1:53.49 on the board, only 0.08 seconds quicker than the Briton.

Elsewhere, GB nabbed two spots on the podium in the women's 100m freestyle final, where Anna Hopkin (51.66) and Freya Anderson (52.10) took silver and bronze respectively.

Hopkin and Anderson now have three medals apiece to pack into their suitcases, while France's Beryl Gastaldello triumphed in a time of 51.48 to win the European title.

Luke Greenback was in action in the men's 100m backstroke final, placing fifth with a time of 50.30, just over half a second behind champion Mewen Tomac (49.72).

Edward Mildred was down in seventh in the men's 200m butterfly final, clocking 1:53.53 as Swiss star Noe Ponti won the gold, while Medi Harris (26.75) and Kathleen Dawson (26.83) placed seventh and eighth respectively in the women's 50m backstroke.

Finally, the Netherlands' Tes Schouten came up trumps in the women's 200m breaststroke, finishing in 2:16.09, and the women's 1500m freestyle was won by France's Anastasiia Kirpichnikova in 15:20.12. body check tags ::
