Three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty has not been included in Great Britain's squad for the upcoming World Aquatics Championships.

The 28-year-old - who also won 50m breaststroke gold at last year's Commonwealth Games - did not compete at the British Championships this month due to mental health reasons.

Peaty outlined his intention to qualify for the Paris Olympics, but the eight-time world champion will not participate in this year's World Championships, which will be held in Fukuoka, Japan from July 14-30.

"There are no specific timelines with Adam at this stage. The focus is very much on ensuring he is fully supported, and working with him on when he is ready to make a full return to his normal competition schedule," British Swimming said in a statement to BBC Sport.

Despite Peaty's absence, GB still have the luxury of naming six Olympic champions - Freya Anderson, Tom Dean, Anna Hopkin, James Guy, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott - in their 29-strong team.

Defending 50m freestyle world champion Ben Proud is also in the ranks alongside James Wilby, who won World Championship gold in the 4x100m medley in 2019.
