Bernard Tomic admits his relief after coming from a set down to beat Daniel Brands at the Australian Open today.

Bernard Tomic has admitted that he was let off the hook by German opponent Daniel Brands in his home Grand Slam today.

Tomic lost the first set to Brands in their second-round clash at the Australian Open but produced a comeback to win the next three sets in a match dominated by strong serving.

The 20-year-old, who could face Roger Federer in the third round, says that he is relieved to be in the tournament after his setback in the early stages against Brands.

He said: "Unexpectedly he played really well in the first set, he surprised me. We both served really well and I'm relieved to come through.

"At a set down in these conditions its hard and I didn't feel too good. I'm happy in the end because he had opportunities too.

"We'll see who I get, anyone can play well on their day. Roger is an amazing player and I got my arse kicked both times I played him last year. But if the opportunity comes I'll give it my best shot."

Federer takes on Nikolay Davydenko later on today for the right to play Tomic in the last 32 on Saturday.
