Team World win the Laver Cup for the first time over Team Europe as Frances Tiafoe saves four match points to defeat Stefanos Tsistipas and seal a 13-8 win.

Team World have won the Laver Cup for the first time after shocking Team Europe 13-8 at the O2 Arena in London.

Bjorn Borg's team had led 8-4 heading into the third and final day of the tournament, where Team World immediately reduced the deficit to 8-7 as Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jack Sock beat Andy Murray and Matteo Berrettini 2-6 6-3 10-8 in the opening doubles match.

Auger-Aliassime would demonstrate few signs of fatigue as he stunned Novak Djokovic 6-3 7-6(3) in the following singles encounter, meaning that the Laver Cup would go Team World if Frances Tiafoe could get the better of Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The American struggled to get to grips with Tsitsipas's second-serve dominance in the first set, losing five successive games - three of them to love - but the Greek was soon the master of his own downfall.

There were no breaks to be had in the second set as Tiafoe forced a tie-break, where Tsitsipas squandered a total of four match points, and two successive backhand winners saw the American take the encounter to a third set.

The shanked efforts kept on coming for Tsitsipas, as Team Europe and Roger Federer watched on in disbelief while the Greek fell 8-4 down in the first-to-10 decider.

Tsitsipas won three consecutive points to pile the pressure on Tiafoe, who missed one Championship point before making no mistake with the second and collapsing to the court after a 1-6 7-6(11) 10-8 win.

John McEnroe and Team World mobbed Tiafoe as they got their hands on the Laver Cup for the first time at the fifth attempt, ending Team Europe's reign of dominance from 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021. body check tags ::
