The last year has been somewhat of a fall from grace for Conor McGregor.

The last year has been somewhat of a fall from grace for Conor McGregor. While he put in a valiant effort against Floyd Mayweather Jr, his antics outside the ring have not exactly been endearing.

That said, it's only making his upcoming bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov an even more exciting spectacle.

The Main Event of UFC 229 is going to be one of the most watched in the sport's history, with fans all over the world looking at ways to catch the big fight.

It is available on PPV, while you can also visit here to find out more and how you can tune in no matter where you are in the world. Regardless of where you are though, the intrigue is going to be in how McGregor performs and what comes next for the Irishman.

The Mayweather fight last year clearly showed how the money affected him, and many pundits are suggesting he simply won't have the appetite for it. Some have even questioned his mental health in the aftermath of last year's Las Vegas showdown.

Paulie Malignaggi, the former WBA welterweight champion, believes that McGregor should have retired after the Mayweather fight claiming that "he's not as good as what people think he is".

That said, the pair still have beef with each other following Malignaggi storming out of McGregor's training camp in the Mayweather build-up. However, it does pose an interesting question, particularly as he's not the only one who believes it.

Georges St Pierre has said he would put his house on McGregor losing, with the 37-year-old pointing to Khabib's expert grappling game and Conor's loses coming from the ground. He said: "Khabib has never lost - he's never lost. Conor has lost before, he's lost on the ground.

"He has a few losses and he's lost on the ground, which is where Khabib is good. That's where Khabib is the more competent at."

A loss would be catastrophic for McGregor, while it would also boost Nurmagomedov's stardom right up to the heights of the Irish puncher.

St Pierre was also quick to point out that Conor has a good chance in the early stages as Khabib has a habit of leaving his chin open, which is of course where the two-weight champion can be devastating.

The future for McGregor is certainly uncertain though. He has the money, the fame - what does he achieve by continuing except potentially damaging his reputation as one of the world's greatest?

In-the-know analyst Robin Black believes that it will be retirement calling if he does lose, particularly due to the bad blood between the two fighters.

Dana White believes that he will continue, fight anyone at anytime, due to the nature of his character. He'll certainly need that character come October 6 - all eyes will be on Conor. A knockout blow coming from him and he's back, taking his fame to another level in the biggest fight in history. Lose, and it's a long flight back to Dublin.
