The Atlanta Falcons have decided to shift Jake Matthews to left tackle as they look to deal with Sam Baker's season-ending injury.
Baker is thought to have torn a patella tendon as the Falcons took part in a pre-season fixture in Houston, with Matthews now having to fill in for the veteran he had sought to learn from next season.
Matthews has little experience in the position, having represented Texas A&M at right tackle for the majority of his junior career.
However, the Falcons have put their faith in the rookie who trained in the position on Monday, while Lamar Holmes was deployed on the right edge.
