The Houston Texans have announced that the team has traded quarterback TJ Yates to the Atlanta Falcons, with linebacker Akeem Dent moving the other way.
It was widely rumoured that the Texans had decided to release Yates, though the choice seems to have been reversed with the trade involving Dent being announced late on Wednesday night.
The Texans will look to make use of Dent, who has started 20 games over the past two season, by using him as backup to a loaded front seven.
The trade of Yates will not come as a particular surprise to Houston fans, as they already have three options for quarterback in the shape of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum and Tom Savage.
