Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith has slammed Carolina Panthers general manager David Gettleman for the manner in which the franchise released him this summer.
Smith caught seven passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns in his first meeting against his former team to help the Ravens to a 38-10 win.
The 35-year-old insists that it became personal with Gettleman and recalled a conversation they had prior to him moving on and joining Baltimore.
"I say, 'Well, is this about a pay cut?'" Smith said of a conversation with Gettleman, ESPN reports.
"He laughs and says, 'No, this is not about a pay cut, but thanks for asking.' And then says, 'We're going to trade you.'"
Smith insists that he knew from that point that he would either be traded or released, but he now refuses to add any further comment as he believes that his play on the field on Sunday said everything.
