Steve Smith has admitted that he is relishing the competition for playing time at the Baltimore Ravens.
The wide receiver joined the AFC North side after being released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this year.
The 35-year-old told the Baltimore Sun: "I love competition. Obviously, [reporters] seem to always have something to say and have a comment, so I love to read those. And I'd like to serve a little humble pie to you and do a little better than what you think.
"There aren't too many 35-year-olds that are getting recruited to play for five or six other teams. I look at that and say: 'I must be doing something right'."
Smith had 745 receiving yards and four touchdowns during the 2013 NFL season.
