The Houston Texans have confirmed that they have released veteran safety Ed Reed.
Reed only joined the Texans in the off-season in free agency as he departed the Baltimore Ravens after winning the Super Bowl with the club.
However, the 33-year-old struggled for form and was replaced in the lineup by Shlioh Keo and DJ Swearinger making him expendable.
Reed will now go through waivers with the potential to be picked up by any of the other 31 teams in the NFL.
