Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been injured in a car wreck in Charlotte and has been seen receiving medical assistance.
According to TMZ, Newton's truck overturned on a bridge close to the Bank of America Stadium and the 25-year-old was seen on his back on the side of the bridge grimacing in pain afterwards.
It is reported that the Panthers star attempted to stand up after the accident but he was unable to do so and agreed to wait for help, and he was later helped on to a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.
Emergency vehicles were at the scene treating Newton as well as other possible victims, as a second car was also involved in the crash.
A CMPD officer later confirmed that Newton was driving his vehicle but he was able to communicate after the incident.
